Our Story

Though Mike and Donna Poupard met at a building convention in 1987, they would not pursue their passion for building homes for many years. Mike originally received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Central Florida. Soon after, the couple moved to the Raleigh area because they felt it was the best place to raise their two young children, Madison and Grant. As an electrical engineer in Raleigh, Mike worked long days, and he felt that he was missing out on his children’s lives. Donna had previously stayed home to care for Madison and Grant, but both children had begun school. In 2002, Mike got his Builder’s License to start Grayson Homes, and they began their company together. Donna serves as the office manager and also maintains her realtor’s license. As Madison and Grant grew older, they also participated in the success of Grayson Homes, truly making it a family-owned company. Though Madison and Grant have since gone to college to pursue their own careers, Mike and Donna continue to grow Grayson Homes to meet its mission of building quality, custom homes in responsible ways. They strive to make their customers feel good in their homes, focusing on the appearance and function of their houses.

Parker Hamel is the newest member of the Grayson Homes family. In 2012, he graduated from Marymount University in Arlington, VA with a degree in Criminal Justice. He joined the army out of college and served as an Infantry Corporal in the 82nd Airborne until February of 2018. After leaving the army, Parker worked for a survey company before realizing that he wanted to work in construction. He believes the skills he learned in the army transfer well to construction management. Parker recently married his amazing wife, Emily, in September of 2018. He also played lacrosse in college and is an avid sports fan. We are thrilled to have Parker as part of the Grayson Homes family.
